Our Beliefs

At Highland Community Church, we believe...

...the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written. We believe that the Scriptures give believers everything they need to know to live for God. [2 Timothy 3:16-17]

...in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. [Genesis 1:1; John 4:24; John 10:30]

...in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through shed blood on the cross for our sins, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. [Isaiah 7:14; Philippians 2:5-11; Romans 8:34]

...that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inheriting a sinful nature. We believe that man is totally depraved, and of himself unable to remedy his lost condition. [Romans 3:22-23; Ephesians 2:1-3,12]

...that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provides the only ground for justification and salvation to all who believe. We believe that only those who are born again by the Holy Spirit are children of God. [1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 8:34]

...in the Holy Spirit and His present ministry. The Holy Spirit indwells believers, guides them, instructs them, and empowers them to serve and live a Godly life in this present evil world. [John 16:7-8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14]

...that Satan is a person, the author of sin, the enemy of God, and the deceiver of mankind. We believe that he shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire. [Job 1:6-7; Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 20:10]

...in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved into the resurrection of life, and they that are lost into the resurrection of damnation. [John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:46]

...in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ. [1 Corinthians 10:17; John 17:11; Ephesians 4:3]
